non-islet cell tumor hypoglycemia(English)

• a rare but serious paraneoplastic syndrome encountered in the setting of a wide variety of benign and malignant tumors. The tumor secretes high molecular weight IGF-II, causing hypoglycemia. Complete tumor resection is curative but often delayed or unfeasible. There is no clear “standard of care” for managing these patients; aka Doege-Potter syndrome when the tumor is a fibrous tumor located in the thorax
