The handheld probe is designed to meet 6 design considerations: 1) simultaneously image with SLO and OCT at a combined power under the ANSI limit, 2) span a 20° FOV with diffraction limited resolution, 3) operate at a minimum of 16 frames per second (fps) with at least 500 x 500 pixel images for both SLO and OCT, 4) have a working distance of approximately 25 mm and a minimal device form factor, 5) compensate for ± 8 diopters of spherical equivalent refractive error, and 6) weigh less than 1.5 kg
