VFD

There are multiple definitions:

  1. visual field defect(English)

    • common type of non-glaucomatous visual field defects found in eyes with myopia. Myopic eyes undergo elongation of the posterior segment, which would result in structural changes to the ONH, including tilt, torsion, and PPA. VFD in addition to ONH changes is an essential requirement for the diagnosis of glaucoma. Therefore, when myopic patients present with stereotypical glaucomatous VFDs, the diagnosis is relatively easy. However, atypical VFDs accompanied by structural myopic changes in the ONH, are more challenging. Myopic eyes with temporal VFDs demonstrate larger ß-PPA areas, and slower VFD progression rate than glaucoma patients with typical VFDs
