West-Haven criteria(English)

  • the most frequently used for grading hepatic encephalopathy (HE), and differentiates four grades of clinically manifest HE. In grade I, patients show a lack of attention and some subtle personality changes that are obvious predominantly to their relatives. In grade II, the most intriguing finding is disorientation for time combined, for example, with inappropriate behavior and lethargy. In grade III, patients are stuporous but respond to stimuli. They are also disoriented for place and situation and may exhibit bizarre behavior. In grade IV, patients are in coma
