    • precursor lesion of SCC, which form the most frequently encountered skin lesions in clinical dermatology practice. Present on sun-damaged skin of the head, neck, upper trunk, and extremities, resulting in mild dysplasia in the epidermis on histopathology. Clinically, they present as erythematous scaling macules and papules. These may be very hyperkeratotic scales, some with a cutaneous horn. The pathogenesis of actinic keratosis is identical to SCC. The mainstay of treatment is cryotherapy
