colorectal cancer screening(English)

  • aims to reduce mortality by the detection of colonic adenomas and early colorectal cancers. CT colonography is a noninvasive screening tool for visual assessment of the colon. The patient is scanned in both supine and prone positions to enable movement of colonic fluid and feces to the dependent surface and therefore increasing endoluminal surface visualization. Fecal tagging of residual stool with an oral iodinated contrast agent either alone or in combination with oral barium allows electronic subtraction of labeled stool to help in the detection of polyps
