There are multiple definitions:

  1. index of microcirculatory resistance(English)

  2. infant mortality rate(English)

    • the rate of deaths per 1,000 live births at which babies of either less than four weeks or of one year of age die, respectively. Commonly accepted as a measure of the general health and wellbeing of a population. Among many public health indexes, IMR is one of the two most important measures indicating the regional, national, and population status in various fields including health, demography, society, economy, biology, and culture. The following terms are based on ICD and WHO. Neonate: infants 0 to 27 days of life, under 28 days of life. Early neonate: infants 0 to 6 days (under 7 days) of age. Late neonate: infants 7 to 27 days (under 28 days) of age
