Interatrial Shunt/Septum Device(English)

• unloading of the LA through interatrial shunting has emerged as a potential therapy for patients with HFpEF. An investigational implant used to treat HFpEF. The self-expanding nitinol device creates a controlled, small (e.g., 8 mm) opening between the left and right atria. This passage decompresses the left atrium, lowering pressure to reduce symptoms. The system is delivered percutaneously via femoral venous access (16 Fr) followed by a standard trans-septal puncture of the interatrial septum
