irregular sleep–wake rhythm disorder(English)

• seen in individuals with multiple irregular sleep and wake episodes throughout a 24-hour period due to the absence of a well-defined circadian sleep–wake cycle. Individuals may have insomnia symptoms during the scheduled sleep period and/or EDS. Those affected by ISWRD are usually institutionalized older adults with dementia or those with moderate-to-severe cognitive defects.
