recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone(English)

  • frequently used in ovulation induction associated with timed sexual intercourse. Has a high purity (i.e. no LH content, no contamination by proteinic molecules), a higher batch-to-batch consistency, and no risk of transmission of infectious diseases. Its cost-effectiveness remains controversial, especially for patients undergoing ovulation induction and low-technology assisted reproduction treatments. In IVF, the overall cost per successful pregnancy results to be significantly lower with rFSH, due to its higher effectiveness
