- individuals with probable PTSD experience daily variation of symptoms, including intrusive re-experiencing of the traumatic event, persistent avoidance of stimuli associated with the event, negative alterations in cognitions and mood, and marked alterations in arousal and reactivity. Variation is independent of the use of sleep medications, caffeine, and alcohol. Determination of factors significantly associated with these variations may be important for treatments
