spontaneous parametric down-conversion(English)
- a nonlinear optical phenomenon that serves as the basis for many quantum optics phenomena and experiments. It consists in a process where a photon is converted spontaneously into a pair of entangled photons with lower energies, following the laws of conservation of energy and momentum. It is a very weak process, meaning that only a small fraction of the photons used generate down-converted pairs of photons. Also known as parametric fluorescence, parametric noise, parametric scattering
